Climbing out of the Pit

We have been working on productive struggle and teaching the students to “jump into the pit” and attempt a task even if they don’t feel like they are experts.  We are building safe and trusting class communities where we can share our struggles and learn from others.  5th grade has been working with decimals and practicing with different tools to aid in learning.  They are Climbing out of the Pit!

Meetings with Teachers

I met with all of the teachers this past week to review the IEPs of the students on my caseloads. My students are so lucky to have such amazing teachers!  I can’t wait to start working with them!

Nice To Meet You

Dear Wonderful Camarena Families,

My name is Shannon Cleator, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the new Resource Specialist (RSP teacher) at Camarena Elementary School. I have been working for the Chula Vista Elementary School District since 1999. I began as a General Education (classroom) teacher, and taught for 13 years. During that time I received my Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. Also during that time, I received my Special Education Credential. 3 ½ years ago I took a leap, and switched to Special Education when I became the RSP teacher at Salt Creek. I am excited to get to know you and your children. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me. My email here at school is shannon.cleator@cvesd.org, and my phone number is 619-591-5500 x630422. I look forward to meeting all of you.
